People being people, it is not surprising there is a wide diversity of political opinion in our Province. As your MLA, it is an obligation on me to be aware of this diversity and to consider all opinions when deciding how to represent your interests in Caucus and the Legislature. I believe strongly that the free exchange of ideas, no matter how divergent, is the foundation of a strong democracy. As you can probably imagine, there is a lot of work involved in representing the thousands of people in Cowichan-Ladysmith. Some of this is funded through the Legislature, my office in Duncan, for instance. However, much of the work is done by volunteers who feel strongly about issues that face all of us.
